Can you float in a warm pool of sound? In this low-pressure session, everyone will work together to create an immersive, sonic “bath” using gongs, drones, singing bowls, voices, and other soundmakers. Everyone will have the opportunity to try different soundmakers and to wander the space, or stay in one place, and swim in the wonders of a unique sound environment. All instruments supplied, or bring your own! Facilitated by Ethan Bokma and Ian Crutchley
May 29, 2022, 2:30 PM, at Harcourt House. Space is limited, and pre-registration is recommended. This event is free, but donations are welcome to help support our programming! Masks are recommended.
Ethan Bokma is a multi-instrumentalist in the city of Edmonton. He first started making music on stage in 2016 with various improvisation ensembles. You may (or may not) have heard of his longer-running groups such as the free-jazz assault Heavy Beak or perhaps the religious long-jammers Holy Drone Travellers. Today, Ethan continues to pursue the cosmic gumbo with his own solo project Brick Road. You might also see him honking up the bass clarinet in Mustafa Rafiq’s Takleef Ensemble.
