Picture the scene: it’s late January, in the heart of a cold, clear Edmonton winter. Definitely time for a hot concert of new chamber music of the kind that only New Music Edmonton can bring you. Our friends in Timepoint Ensemble will be cruising up the QE2 from their home in Calgary to give their Edmonton debut. Their program takes its inspiration from ideas of noise and post-genre inspired works, two sound worlds seemingly far apart yet expertly connected in the hands of this great chamber ensemble. The program is based around the works by Peter Ablinger, Germen Alonso, Nicole Lizee, Marie-Helene Fournier, and Owen Davis.

We are really looking forward to hosting Timepoint Ensemble in Edmonton – it’s always a treat to hear a superb chamber ensemble playing virtuosic, cutting-edge music, but when it includes amplified French horn, electric guitars, saxophones, drums and a few swear words, we know we’re in for something truly amazing: no better way to celebrate being in Edmonton in January with some very cool musicians from Calgary.
