Noa Even with Holy Drone Travellers – cancelled

June 20, 2020 at 7:30pm Holy Trinity Anglican Church 10037 84th Avenue

Our 2019-20 season closer is going to be a doozy! It’s the summer solstice, so come and enjoy an awesome double-header during the longest sunset of the year in the glowing space of Holy Trinity Anglican Church! Featuring a great combination of local and visiting artists, a rich variety of music styles, and some treats to celebrate the season, get ready for a wonderful night of music to mark New Music Edmonton’s 35th anniversary!

Saxophonist Noa Even’s program, Atomic, is a set of works for saxophone, visuals and electronics which explores ideas of atomic connection in this otherwise disconnected world. Noa Even’s project has been a long time in the making, with the works being commissioned and written for her over a period of years. Spectacular visuals and electronics will come together with wildly virtuosic saxophone playing for this deeply personal program of collaborations.

Compositions and visuals by: Yoav Chorev, LJ White and Jason Charney, Emily Koh and Michiko Saiki, Christopher Biggs and Jos Martinez.

Finally, we are delighted to welcome back Edmonton favourites Holy Drone Travelers. With a new LP release in hand and an acclaimed performance at Sled Island, the trio of Ethan Bokma, Bhuyash Neupane and Matt Meeker are on a roll. If you haven’t heard them yet, it’s safe to say you’ll be blown away by the trio’s utterly compelling combination of long, droning soundscapes, electronics, psychedelic bass grooves, meditative tablas, and free-jazz improvisations.
