New Music Edmonton 2023-24 Events

The No Normal Podcast 

Once again, the core of our 2023/24 season will be our monthly hour-long podcast The No Normal! Co-produced by NME Artistic Director Ian Crutchley and local radio veteran, Oskar Zybart, each episode will introduce listeners to interviews and music from sound artists from Edmonton and abroad. The No Normal podcast will also include stories, conversations with friends, local organizations, and much more! Shumaila Hemani and the Sufi Ensemble

Join us for our 2023-24 season opener on September 3, 2 PM at Co*Lab to hear one of Alberta’s most renowned artists! Shumaila Hemani presents a live performance of her extraordinary work, Mannat performed by Shumaila Hemani, James Watson (Violin), and Sujeev Chohan (Tabla). Tickets $10-$20. Now Hear This Festival 2023 festival passes will be honoured at this event.

UltraViolet Ensemble

FREE EVENT! Saturday, November 25, 2023, 7:30 PM, Betty Andrews Recital Hall, MacEwan University. Virtuoso new music ensemble UltraViolet premieres four new works by Emilie LeBel, Emilie LeBel, Nicolás Arnáez, Rio Houle, and Sointu Aalto. The program also features Shadowgraph 5 by American legend George Lewis.

India Gailey

FREE EVENT! Saturday, January 27, 2024, 7:30 PM, Betty Andrews Recital Hall, MacEwan University. Recently named by CBC as one of “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30″, cellist India Gailey presents  works for cello and electronics by Shea Iles, Fjóla Evans, Joseph Glaser, Thanya Iyer, Nicole Lizée, Julia Mermelstein, Andrew Noseworthy, Sarah Rossy, and India Gailey.
